Raleigh, NC, is home to a rich food culture, and Capital Club 16 on Martin St. is one exemplary standby for brunch, lunch, and dinner. After all, we’re suckers for good sandwiches come midday, and in the evening we’re humbled by such provisions as the Schaller & Weber “Sausage Platter” and “The Butcher Plate,” which grace their tastefully hearty all-American menu. And as if that weren’t homage to our own New York City enough, Capital Club 16’s mahogany and oak bar and backbar were reclaimed from the legendary Luchow’s on 14th St.; their chairs hearken from one of the last Horn & Hardart automats to close in Manhattan. The rest, however, is homegrown, from husband-and-wife owners Jake and Shannon Wolf to their family-sourced recipes to the very stuff they serve.
